Thanks, Velvet!

I am working on another post, but meanwhile thought I might post some photos inspired by Velvet Sacks. She has been treating us to photos of her world . Sometimes, we are so busy rushing and doing, that we miss what is. I run past interesting little treasures every day, usually mumbling, "I have to get a shot of that someday."

Today was someday.

The most graceful and silent lawn mowers available. Residents of the horse farm, across the road.

"Shhh!" she clucked. "The worms don't have a clue. . . I've got my camouflage on today!"

When was the last time you saw a child playing in shorts, knee socks. . . and a beanie?

Do you think this white pine might make a cool climbing tree?

An unexpected bouquet of sunflowers from my husband.

Sometimes our treasures are right there in front of us - we just have to stop and take the time to look.

Well, thank YOU for the nod, Sunflower, and for sharing these gorgeous photos. I especially love the horses and the sunflowers. And I have to agree that the child on the sign is just a wee bit dorky.

Bless you for taking the time to look - and share. And I do NOT dress my children in such garb! The sunflowers are lovely - and so is your husband's thoughtfulness!

Thanks Velvet. I dread the time when the 60+ acre horse farm will be sold to developers :-(

No, Rev. Kate, can't say I ever dressed my children that way either, LOL Wait - my daughter did have a beanie when she was in Brownies! I'd love to know how old that sign is.

(did I spell that right?)
I *took the time* to photograph some metal sunflower sculptures that I had passed every day -AND-
my name is Sunflower, too.

Hey Sunflower "T"! Welcome! So nice to have another sunflower out there :-) I tried to comment on your blog, but couldn't - did you just start it? Once you have a post up, comments will be allowed - I'll keep checking!

Would love to see a photo of your sunflower sculpture, hint, hint, LOL.

Hi Kat - go right ahead - I'm afraid of heights. I guess you aren't, AF training and all!

Yes, Quasar, they are the best lawnmowers - although they won't turn down a carrot or an apple, if offered ;-)

BUT, Dr. John - did you have a beanie also? LOL Glad to see you back online - enjoy the weekend! (well, as much as you can, in the midst of a move.)

Glad you enjoyed, Sandy! This weekend we are working on the house - putting up molding, spackling, painting and working on other assorted projects that needed doing. I dreaded it - but it has turned out to be a lot of fun.

oawh, this is a really special post!

Silent lawn mowers!

The Calgary (Winter) Olympic Park (Alberta, Canada) has a herd of sheep with a shepherd and a wonderful sheep dog to mind the hill, that delight many during the summer months...

Came over via Q9, but see you are a friend of Miss Mimi's too...

What wonderful pictures! I came just to look at them - and then ended up reading your whole blog - no wonder all this takes me so much time! I especially like the picture of the road you drive up to your home - you're a lucky girl.

Sorry for the delay in answering, new friends - been a little under the weather. Thank you all for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

Angeldust, love your jewelry, good luck with it. Sounds like you are switching careers. Ditto, me, and I also make jewelry! Sheep and shepherd - wow, that must be fun. Q9 and Ms. Mimi are both very special people, I agree!

Starbender, you've posted so much since "the road less traveled!" Love the dog with baby :-) Thanks for the link, that was sweet of you. I need to update mine, haven't in weeks and I have so many new friends now :-) Flowers are great - a little extravagance that means so much. That bouquet still looks great over 11 days later!

Wow, Jackie, thanks so much for visiting AND reading my baby blog. It does take a lot of time to write and explore other blogs - I'm lucky if I can squeeze out a post a week! I tried to find your blog and the link didn't go through for some reason :-( I know I've seen you in other places, so I will keep looking for you! Yes, I love my little road too - I thank God for every blessing in my life whenever I go down it.

Hey Sunflower,
Thanks very much for the nomination

Hope you are having a great day!

De foto, thanks for visiting - yes, LOL, that chicken is real. She lives at the nature preserve where I took the photo of the white pine.

Q9 - de nada! I thought it was very nice of you to nominate other science blogs, also.

Hi Sunflower,
I only meant to nominate others
But since the nominations encouraged one to nominate oneself too - I did so, not out of vanity, but to invite others not to be shy!

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours!

Glad work on the house turned out to be fun :) There is something rather special about "I did that!" isnt there?
Hope you and yours have a wonderful happy Thanksgiving Sunflower.
Sandy

Q9 - I didn't notice that you nominated yourself. I DID notice that it was very neighborly of you to nominate others! You are a kind soul :-)

Sandy, thanks so much - as it turns out, I wound up with a stomach bug and my husband did most of the work - but I am still very happy to say "HE did it!" Hoping the stomach recovers a bit for Thanksgiving, LOL.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I am very thankful for all my new blogger friends :-)

Wow, we had a pine like that in our yard in Michigan. We called it, "The Stairway to Heaven" when we were kids. Later on, that name was stolen by a popular band.

Oh, duh...Happy Thanksgiving!

We're just back from my SIL, with our tummies all stuffed! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Janet, thanks for your wishes, same to you!

AngelDust - we'll have to talk jewelry soon!

Tony, "Stairway" came out in '71. . . so I don't think you're old enough to have come up with the name FIRST! Hope you had a great T-Day too, buddy.

Hi Sunflower
I love opening up this place.
The 'surprise' at not finding a new post, instantly rewarded by the sight of the horses peacefully grazing
(silently moving)!!!

A great weekend to you too.
